During
the Macedonian war approximately the complete population from the area

from the Ottoman Empire on October 13th, 1912. During the Greek-Italian
war (during the WWII) the residents of Grevena were involved to a large
extend. Not only as a soldiers (etc. First battalion which entered Koritsa
was the Grevena's battalion), but the unarmed people took part during
the war using any means they were able to find and help. Most of the
unarmed residents for the Grevena area were helping transporting arms,
food, clothes, etc. to the soldiers, with the result, on November 1st-8th
in 1940 to destroy Tzoulia division from the Italian army at Anitsas
Filippaion. The fights against the German-Italian forces were organized
until March 1943 when it was set free from the external forces after
the destroyed and captured in Fardikampos [bridge of Alliakmona (Αλιάκμονα)]
the Italian's battalion which oversee the area of Grevena, after the
attack from the people from the areas Grevena, Boiou and Siatistas.
